History

Sherlock Holmes stands as a book franchise that made its debut in 1887, the books are written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

He is a “consulting detective”; he is well-known for his observant, deductive nature. The novels are usually narrated by Dr. John H. Watson.

In total, there are 4 novels & 56 short stories (1887–1927). Since then, many movies and TV shows have been made based on the novels.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is the mastermind behind the franchise. He was born in Edinburgh, United Kingdom.

He received knighthood for authoring a pamphlet that defended British actions during the Boer War.

Sherlock Holmes was inspired by Joseph Bell, who was a Scottish surgeon who Arthur thought to have good method’s of deductions & observation
